Autopsy of heritage. Residence Strandweg, Zandvoort 1952-2023.

When does a house become a home? At the end of 2021, I received permission to photograph the inside of the empty apartments on Badhuisplein. A special building, which was one of the first to be built on the former Atlantic Wall after the Second World War with the help of the Marshall Plan. Almost like an autopsy, I dissected the houses with my camera. Original Bruynzeel kitchens and cupboards, stained glass, original tiles. For me, the project is a final tribute to a housing complex dating from a special era. Reconstruction architecture has been razed to the ground. I think it's such a shame that people seem to be dealing with this so carelessly. A striking heritage has been demolished and seems to have been immediately forgotten.
